My Story

Hi, I’m Pete! Welcome to petesig Photography. While I've been a full-time photographer for a few years now, my love for the camera actually started decades ago as a hobby. Before taking the leap into photography full-time, I spent thirty-three years working as a licensed architect.
When I retired in August 2024, I decided it was time to turn my passion into my main focus. Thanks to my background in designing buildings, I have a natural instinct for capturing them. I know exactly how a structure breathes, what makes it unique, and how to find the perfect angles to highlight its best features.
When I’m not chasing lines and symmetry in architecture, you can find me outside. I love traveling to explore nature around the globe, but I’ve learned that some of the most beautiful shots happen right in our own backyards.

Artist Statement
By opening my eyes to the interplay of light, texture, and color, I aim to share a fresh perspective of the world around me. As a retired architect, I bring a critical eye to the natural and built environment, focusing on the juxtaposition and balance of shapes and masses.
I am particularly drawn to low-light photography. These situations are technically challenging, but highly rewarding when the final image matches my vision. Whether contemplating the reflective surface of water, marveling at the contrast of a mountain against the sky, or observing dawn over the ocean, I focus on the details that define a place. By being mindful of these special moments, I allow the quiet essence of a scene to reveal itself.
